Our Story

It all started in a lumber store for a project we had in our home.   After looking at the poor consistency across boards, and the steep prices for sub par wood, the decision was made to purchase our own sawmill and make our own lumber.   Our Woodmizer LT15 Go was brought home, and now 5 years later it's ready to be the showcase of our business.

When it came to naming our business, it took some time to come up with the perfect name - but it was an almost accident involving a maple tree, a chainsaw, and a bit of Skagit History.

​

One day while helping out a friend take down a large maple tree on the edge of his property, the butt end of the log needed to be cut into smaller pieces to fit on the mill - but the tree held a surprise inside.  4 railroad spikes were embedded into the center of tree.  Near as the owner could figure, these had to have been in the tree when it was young, almost a 100 years ago.  Thankfully the chainsaw missed these pieces by inches, and now it's a show piece with a great story.

We are excited to offer custom sawmilling services, along with metal fabrication for all of your project needs.   We can cut fencing material, full dimensional lumber, posts, beams, lap siding, slabs, and even offer firewood cut from mill slabs.
