Highlights of 2021

Winter is just about here, and with that - the end of the year. It's been our first year in business and we think we are doing pretty well! We've helped several folks with fence packages, decking materials, posts, beams, custom sized lumber, slabbing, firewood, and lots of metal fabrication.

One of the highlights of 2021 was when we went to go check out a small scale salvage sale. First off, we were told the wrong location. Thankfully up high on the ridge we had cell service and I connected us to the sale map online, which was not in the area we were. We are never lost out in the woods, we just explore and look around in amazement!

Once we found the location of the sale (lots of laughter about going for a "quick" drive and the fact we didn't have to break out the old Thomas Guide), we stood back in amazement. Or I (Amy) did as I don't like heights. The picture does not do this tree justice.

The unfortunate part of this tree was that the other side showed someone was trying to take a chunk out of it! This beast was such a beauty. We looked at it several ways, but since we didn't have the all the equipment needed to haul this to our mill, we never placed a bid. We've heard that a small company did buy this, and is going to use it for sailboat and other materials.

The grains in this wood are tight! This is what we consider good wood right here!

The Pacific Northwest is strewn with these large giants, if you know where to look. These trees were left by loggers from 'back in the day' and have since grown into the towering beauties they are!

Rest assured that this wasn't felled by human hands. This tree was blown down by the January windstorm of 2021.

We feel good knowing that it isn't going to be chopped up into firewood.

Things are looking good at our mill site. We've sent bands to get sharpened - so that means we've been sawing a lot! Our Woodmizer sawmill has been a blessing for us, what started as a hobby has turned into a business. One that we hope will be around for quite some time.

We truly hope this winter brings a smile to you and yours. If you are looking for custom cut lumber, or even fabricating done, please feel free to call, email or use our Contact Us form on the website.

If you have a project in mind, and you're looking to see if we compete - please note we never raised / lowered our prices during the lumber rush of 2021. We aim to be as fair as we can on pricing, and as honest as we can on project time.

We also love to see your projects you've made with our custom cut materials! Tag us on Instagram using #4spikemilling or #4spike.

Have a rest of the year!
